A Lovely Little City…

There are only a few perfect Saturdays left this spring before the heat and humidity of summer settle over Columbia, so we wanted to make the most of the beautiful weather and set out for Soda City

This weekly farmers market  located on the 1500 block of Main Street features local vendors selling fresh produce, crafts, and foods. Attendance has steadily increased over the years, and there is a great mix of families, students, young professionals and puppies converging downtown each week. “Soda City” comes from our city’s nickname, Cola, and is also a nod to the fact that there were once a few soda bottling facilities downtown.  Little Lovely enjoyed the sights and sounds as we strolled, and we even purchased a very sweet, handmade dress for her from the Wild Flour booth. This week musicians were playing throughout the market, so we stopped on Boyd Plaza to listen and checked out the fountain in front of The Columbia Museum of Art. Eloise was mesmerized. We decided to continue our walk on the South Carolina State House grounds and came across this lovely flower bed in the shape of the state flag. It really is a great day in South Carolina!
