A Lovely Little Night in Wonderland…

“When I used to read about fairy tales, I never thought I would wind up in the middle of one.” -Alice

If you’ve ever imagined what it might be like to fall down the rabbit hole into a surreal world of fantasy, now is your chance to spend A Night in Wonderland at the Columbia Museum of Art’s 2017 Gala on Saturday, April 1, from 7 p.m. until midnight.  I have been an active volunteer with the museum for many years, and I’m very proud to serve as this year’s Gala chair.

Our committee has been working hard since this summer planning an amazing event, and we can’t wait to roll out the red carpet to the community for a special evening celebrating and showcasing the museum’s major spring exhibition, Salvador Dalí’s Fantastical Fairy Tales, which features 36 colorful prints from The Dalí Museum including illustrations for Alice in Wonderland, Don Quixote, and the tales of Hans Christian Andersen.

The whimsical, black-tie affair will be filled with enchanting cuisine by Scott Hall Catering, dazzling decor transforming the entire museum into a magical wonderland and lively entertainment from The Root DoctorsThe Columbia City BalletThe University of South Carolina School of Dance, mad dueling pianos performances and more!

This fabulous party also has a fabulous purpose as the museum’s largest fundraiser of the year raising significant funds to support the museum’s national award-winning arts education and community enrichment programs.

Gala tickets are $150 per person ($75 of every ticket is a tax deductible donation to the museum) and on sale now and sponsorships are still available. If you’re interested in getting involved, feel free to reach out to me, and stay tuned for more posts leading up the big night.
