A Lovely Little May…

“In the marvellous month of May when all the buds were bursting, then in my heart did love arise.” -Heinrich Heine

The month of May has been marvelous and very busy between finishing a kitchen renovation, celebrating birthdays and Mother’s Day, and a quick getaway to Charleston.

Birthday dinner with my best girl 🎂Dinner with wonderful friends 🍾 A special Mother’s Day celebrating my mother’s birthday too💗

This weekend we tried a new boutique hotel in the Elliotborough neighborhood of downtown Charleston, 86 Cannon. Run by a stylish couple, Liz and Marion, along with their two cockapoos, Sully and Gus, the charming spot offers five guest rooms in a fully renovated historic home built in 1860.

I was impressed with the gorgeous interiors and close attention to detail making our stay luxurious, including cocktail hour in the salon and specialty truffles from Christophe Chocolatier left in our room to ensure sweet dreams. We were well located near upper King St. and walked to brunch at the lively Rarebit followed by shopping at Skinny Dip Charleston {make sure to go upstairs to the cafe for some frose}. After meeting up with friends from out of town, we made our way to dinner at one of our favorites, Rue de Jean. A very fun evening!

Even a brief jaunt to Charleston is special, and we were ready to get home for Eloise’s first dance recital.

Hope your May has been marvelous!
