“Don’t you love … the fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly-sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address.” -Nora Ephron, You’ve Got Mail
It’s not quite fall, but the start of August heralds in the back to school season, and I wanted to share a few ways that we are preparing.
While a Target Run is certainly in our future for classroom staples, I had success at Marshall’s finding great deals on backpacks, lunchboxes and other gear. Eloise also helped me pick out a few items that we could donate to the Salvation Army of the Midlands Operation School Supply Drive. Click here for a full list of items needed if you’d like to donate.
And on Saturday, August 11, the Junior League of Columbia will help sponsor the 4th Annual Slam Dunk Back to School Bash at Eau Claire High School. This one-day event benefits hundreds of students currently enrolled in five elementary schools in Richland School District One. At the event, each child will receive new schools clothes, health screenings, and age appropriate books. There will also be fun activities for the kids, parent information from local organizations, and giveaways.
Back to school also means new clothes to start the year in style. We are loving the Back to School collection at Duck Duck Goose. This online boutique in Columbia, SC, which delivers to your doorstep in town, will open the doors of its much anticipated new location on Devine Street at the end of August. To get a sneak peek this weekend, stop by their storefront during the Devine Street Sidewalk Sale, and check out some great summer flash sales online (and via Instastories @shopduckduckgoose). Eloise and I adore the Apple Ruffled Alice Dress and apple knee-socks by Little English Clothing as well as the Alex Apple Dress by The Proper Peony.
