A Lovely Little Print…

“I’ve never met a leopard print I didn’t like.” – Dianna Vreeland

Dating as far back as Egyptian culture, leopard has been worn as a symbol of power. The print has taken so many directions over time – representing luxury and sophistication à la Audrey Hepburn’s mod 60’s glamour, sexiness à la Ann Bancroft’s Mrs. Robinson, fierceness à la Beyoncé and prep chic à la First Lady Michelle Obama.

In her book, Fierce: The History of Leopard Print, Jo Weldon studies the history of the print and its evolution in fashion- a wealth symbol during the 18th and 19th centuries the print gained mainstream status once clothing began being mass produced in 20th century.

Reimagined again for Fall 2019, leopard is being shown layered, worn head to toe, and popping up in playful separates. Here is a sampling of looks found locally.
