A Lovely Fall Bucket List…

We are welcoming fall with open arms – the cooler weather, the back to school routines and the chance to make some new family memories. This year more than before, we’re choosing our fall outings carefully and spending lots of time outside.

1. Apple Picking 🍎

An impromptu family adventure and a change of scenery was first on our list, so we headed to Justus Orchard in Hendersonville, NC, for apple picking. The family-friendly orchard grows a variety of apples that you can pick before checking out the petting zoo, riding the cow train and enjoying some fresh cider and donuts.

2. S’mores and Spooky Snacks 🍫👻

Slightly cooler temperatures mean it’s time for outdoor fires and s’mores (a favorite of the girls). We added Halloween goodies to the mix to make them festive.

I’m always looking for ways to change up snack time – trying to add healthy choices along with some fun.

These terrifying treats are easy to put together and a fun activity for your little monsters to help create. Slice fresh fruit, add some peanut butter, decorative garnishes, yogurt for dipping and plenty of candy eyeballs 👀.

3. Halloween Decorating 🦇💀🕸

This is the first year that Eloise has requested scary decor in addition to our usual pumpkin display. We’ve added Mr. Bones to the front yard and a flock of bats around the front door. Even our playhouse is looking frightfully fun!

4. Picnics 🧺

Dining alfresco has become the norm, and our family has found some favorite picnic spots around town (The Horseshoe at the University of South Carolina is our first top choice). It’s a quick way to make lunch a memorable activity.

5. Pumpkin Patch 🎃

You can’t have a fall bucket list without pumpkins! I’m so glad that our local patch is open this year so we could pick out our future “jack ‘o lantern” and take our traditional patch pics of our lovely little pumpkins.
