A Lovely Little Easter Basket…

“Here comes Peter Cottontail

Hoppin’ down the bunny trail

Hippity hoppin’, Easter’s on its way” -Gene Autry

Next weekend, Peter Cottontail will be hopping down the trail and filling Easter baskets with treats and goodies galore.

My childhood Easter memories are of being at the beach with my family and waking up to find a potpourri of delightful, small gifts and sweets left by the Easter Bunny. Over the years, my brothers and I have grown to appreciate the thought “the bunny” put into our baskets, and now as a mom myself, I hold traditions like these so dear. I’m also especially fond of bunnies in general, which makes it even more fun to procure special items for Eloise’s basket. Here is a sampling of spring surcees for your little lovelies.

{Eloise’s basket // Little White Rabbit by Kevin Henkes available locally at Little Lambs & Ivy and where I also found an adorable bunny wand and barrettes by Pink Poppy // Sweet sleeping bunny vase for fresh flowers or jellybeans from The Shops at Cricket Newman // Personalized plate and cup by Katie Scarlet Designs // Sparkle Rabbit Clutch by Cat and Jack at Target // A rainbow of Jelly Cat bunnies and baskets at BeBeep

Another new tradition our family started this year is decorating trees with Easter Eggs- Eloise has already become an “egg”spert. 🐰

Happy Easter!

A Lovely First Easter…

The dreary weather didn’t put a damper on Little Lovely’s first Easter. Peter Cottontail was able to make his way to Cambridge Lane and brought a basket full of toys, bunnies and even a few monogrammed goodies for Eloise. He might have brought a few extra items since she is also celebrating turning seven months old! After checking out her loot and trying on her bunny ears, we got ready for church.

This sweet little bunny is 7 months old!

Eloise wore her special Eloise Heirloom Ribbon Dress by Elizabeth Layne Heirloom Clothing. When I was looking for a Christening outfit, I serendipitously found this perfectly named dress and bloomer set made of Swiss pique and Spanish lace. We simply changed out the ecru ribbon for light pink, and we were ready for spring.Following a beautiful Easter service, we joined family for brunch. Our country club takes extra measures to make Easter a fun affair for little ones. Eloise pet a baby lamb at the petting zoo and even met the Easter Bunny.     We ended the afternoon visiting with the grandmothers before everyone was ready for a nap.   Happy Easter to you! 🐰🌷🐣

Lovely Little Basket…

I adore bunnies so Easter has always been a favorite holiday.  It’s even more special this year celebrating for the first time with our Little Lovely.

Since she isn’t quite ready for chocolate, jelly beans or Peeps, I got creative finding baby appropriate treats for her basket.  At almost seven months, she is focusing more on her toys and books, so it should be fun surprising her with these goodies from the Easter Bunny.

Head to Condington Fields at the Shops at Cricket Newman for a wonderful selection of bunny items including these precious knit bunnies by Melange Collections. World Market  has a huge variety of Little Golden Books adding a vintage touch to your basket, and I also found an adorable carrot fork and spoon set there. This sweet bunny girl sippy cup from Target is just the thing to help us reinforce our drinking skills. We have recently started taking classes at Gymboree, and my Little Lovely can’t get enough of the bubbles that are part of each visit. I know the Bubble Oodles wand and tray will supply hours of fun outside this spring.

Good luck hunting items for your lovely little basket!

A Little Hunt…

This afternoon our neighborhood, Forest Hills, held its annual Easter egg hunt, and Eloise was excited to participate for the first time.  Eloise’s outfit: Le Za Me Bunny Toile Bishop and Bunnies By the Bay Cuddle Coat

The tradition of the Easter egg hunt spread across Europe during the Victorian period. Since eggs were a common item given up during Lent it was a treat to eat the found eggs on Easter Sunday. While the eggs we hunted today were plastic our Little Lovely certainly enjoyed putting them in her mouth, and Dad even “helped her taste” some yummy, Easter treats. We brought “Bunny Munch” for everyone to enjoy:   Annie’s Homegrown Cocoa & Vanilla Bunny Cookies // Mini Marshmallows // Easter M&Ms

A Little Reading…

With Easter just a week away my Little Lovely and I are reading our favorite bunny themed books (although we love bunnies all year long). Here are some of the sweet little reads – new and classics- to add to your library:
