A Lovely Little Scoop…

“I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!”

On these warm, late summer evenings, a favorite, after dinner family outing is stopping for a lovely little scoop of ice cream.

Eloise had her first taste on our summer beach trip at The Village Deli and Creamery and she immediately loved the cold, creamy texture. (It probably felt wonderful on her teething gums.)Locally, our go-to is 32 Degrees where we can self serve yogurt in a variety of flavors and add a little fresh fruit.

On National Ice Cream Day, who knew there was such a thing, we visited The Sweet Cream Company on Main Street. It’s no surprise why it was recently named the best ice cream shop in South Carolina with creative flavors like honey and sunflower and ginger poppy made with fresh, local ingredients. It was an added treat when Sweet Cream brought its cart to our neighborhood ice cream  social. This weekend we visited Scoopy Doo Gelato in Five Points which features not only delicious and unique gelato and sorbet flavors but also a fun atmosphere, including an entire chalk board wall  so you can doodle while you enjoy your dessert. It was special bringing Eloise there because when I was little, my grandmother would take me to a well-known gelateria located in the same spot,  Adriana’s. Many who grew up in Columbia will remember the cozy European cafe where you could linger over your gelato and enjoy the ambiance.

Little Lovely is especially fond of the “ice cream lady” as she’s lovingly referred to at our country club, who sometimes adds a few sprinkles to her scoop as she did yesterday.Applause-worthy indeed! 👏🏻
